When you’re shopping for individual health insurance on the INSXCloud enrollment platform, you’ll find that there are convenient features that can help you find the most affordable coverage options. Here’s what you need to know:
When you use the INSXCloud platform, you’ll be able to find the same plan options – and plan prices – for your zip code that you would find if you were shopping for health insurance through HealthCare.gov. And on INSXCloud – just like HealthCare.gov and state exchanges – you’ll be able to calculate your eligibility for Marketplace premium tax credits (premium subsidies) that could make your health insurance premiums more affordable and see if you qualify for a Cost Sharing Reduction (CSR) Silver Plan.
During the process of getting quotes for health plans, you’ll be prompted to enter your household income to determine your eligibility for a Marketplace premium subsidy. The INSXCloud platform will generate an estimate of your premium subsidy (or premium tax credit), based on the information you provide, which will automatically be applied to plans that you see in the quoting process.
Premium tax credits are based on your estimated household income for the year that you receive Marketplace coverage. You receive these as an “advance payment of the premium tax credit” (APTC) paid by the Marketplace to your carrier each month1 – or you can file to receive the credit at tax filing time.2
All health plan options from your zip code will be filtered from lowest to highest by the cost of the plan premium you would pay after your estimated subsidy is deducted from the premium for each plan. Your estimated subsidy will be displayed above the sorted list of plans and also noted with each plan in your quoting results.
For example: After you enter your household income, the INSXCloud platform estimates that you’d be eligible for a premium subsidy of $350 a month. The monthly premium for a plan in your list of options is $500. The platform will show you a $150 estimated premium for that plan ($500 monthly premium minus $350 monthly subsidy).
Not necessarily. The list of plans – sorted by total premium the platform expects you’ll pay – provides a starting point for your plan selection, but other coverage factors will affect how much you will pay out-of-pocket for medical expenses. You can use the filters in INSXCloud to look at these factors, identified below, which will also affect how much you pay for coverage and medical care.
